What is the proper method for repairing a cut chandelier wire?

Repairing a cut chandelier wire involves several steps to ensure safety and functionality. Begin by carefully assessing the extent of the damage and identifying the location of the cut.

Use wire cutters to trim away any frayed or damaged sections of the wire, creating clean, straight ends.

Next, strip the insulation from the ends of the wire using wire strippers, exposing approximately 1/2 inch of bare wire.

Twist the strands of each wire end together to create a secure connection.

Once the wire ends are prepared, use a wire nut to join the corresponding wires together, matching the colors (e.g., black to black, white to white, and green or bare copper to green or bare copper for the ground wire).

Twist the wire nut clockwise onto the twisted wire ends until they are securely connected.

After making the connection, carefully tug on each wire to ensure it is firmly attached and there are no loose connections.

Once satisfied with the repair, wrap the wire nut and exposed wire ends with electrical tape to provide additional insulation and protection.

Finally, test the repaired wire to ensure it is functioning properly before reinstalling the chandelier.

If you're unsure about any step of the process, consult a qualified electrician for assistance to ensure the repair is completed safely and correctly.
